Independent Eater
After Scarlett's first few solid feelings at 6 months, she quickly realized she did not like baby food, and she especially did not like being fed. After too many attempts of getting a spoon into a fighting mouth, we decided (or should I say she decided) to feed her primarily finger food. At almost a year, she's eating pretty much anything she can manage to gum (she only has 4 teeth). Her favorites are spaghetti, broccoli, meatballs, tofu, cheese, and of course every baby's favorite food, Cheerios. Just like her brother, she hates bibs and will let us know she is done by dumping her food on her head. Lately I have brought back the spoon and let her have a go at it herself. Quite a messy success.

The mind of a 3 year old
Mommy - Max tell me a story
Max - I can't
Mommy - Why?
Max - Because I don't want people to talk about it.
Mommy - But why?
Max - Because I want to make money from it.
Wonder if this is what he learns in school.
I also heard Max tell Scarlett he loved her when I wasn't in the room. What a sweet big brother and loving kid!

First day of school!
I've been on the hunt for a preschool for Max since moving to Alameda. My friend started sending her kid to Super Scholars and he loves it, so I decided to go there today to observe. Max sat down and built a castle right away and the teacher asked if I'd like to leave Max there today as a trial. I wasn't planning on it but he said he wanted to stay so I left and got some much needed grocery shopping done, a task way easier with just one kid. I came back 2 1/2 hours later to a happy kid, proud of his art project and his number and letter writing. So I guess I now have a preschooler! The program is one or two days a week. For now I'm only going to send him one day until I figure out another possible part time preschool option. My little guy is growing up!
